Bus Transfers from Mandalay to UQ

Dear Sir or Madam

Non-friendly bus transfer for travelers between Fig Tree Pocket and UQ

I would like to highlight a morning scheduling problem with the BCC bus timetable at the Indooroopilly Bus Exchange. In order to get a transfer, I like a number of staff and students traveling from the Fig Tree Pocket area to UQ [St Lucia], have to catch a bus up to an hour earlier despite living close to the university. This problem could easily be solved with a minor timetabling change that enabled staff and students to easily transfer from a Fig Tree Pocket bus to a bus destined for UQ at the Indooroopilly Bus Exchange.

To arrive 9am at UQ, staff and students have to take the Fig Tree Pocket 445 bus at 7.35 am and transfer at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre for the 427, 428 or 432 bus to UQ. This means our traveling time is 90 minutes to travel a short distance – Fig Tree Pocket to UQ –, which we find totally unacceptable.

If we take the Fig Tree Pocket 455 bus at 8:15am we arrive at Indooroopilly at 8:33am and wait about 15 minutes for the next bus to UQ. Normally this would be suitable, however as it is a 428 bus [which takes longest possible way to UQ] our arrival time is past 9am. Given that we have class and work commitments that start at 9am, this is not an option.

I would like to bring to your attention that at 7:32am the 432 Express bus leaves Indooroopilly for UQ. We normally watch this bus leave just as the Fig Tree Pocket 455 bus arrives at Indooroopilly Bus Exchange. It would assists us if the 432 bus could wait a few minutes so 455 passengers can transfer.

The Brisbane City Council may not be aware that in the Mandalay area of Fig Tree Pocket, a large number of families are involved with the UQ home stay program for International students and these students use the BCC bus service as their main form of transport. As a home stay family of three years, we know our international student would enjoy their experience of Brisbane more if the bus transfer were user-friendlier to travelers.

Thank you for considering this suggestion. If the 432 bus could just wait for a few more minutes at 7:32am, it would save UQ staff and students a lot of wasted time.
