PICNIC IN THE PARK
Picnic in the Park proved to be another great success. It
was very gratifying to see so many happy people having fun. With
the continued support of the local community I hope we can have
many more such occasions.
I would like to say a special “thank you” to our event sponsors:
Local Councillor Jane Prentice, and the Brisbane City Council,
who sponsored the band “Playground” and provided the stage,
lighting and portable toilets.
Damien Lacey Plumbing (0419 740 907) who sponsored the
children’s entertainment of Mister Balloons and the Magician
Dave Lord.
Lone Pine management donated two family passes, which were given
as Lucky Door prizes.
Without sponsorship it is just not possible for the MPA to stage
these kinds of events in the park. If anyone is interested in
sponsoring or has any suggestions or ideas regarding events for
next year, please contact me.
Local Habitat Group
The group has received funding and is to be known as
Mandalay Habitat Group, under the direction of Chris Sanderson.
The next bird watching meeting is to be held on 26th November at
7am in the Biambi Yamba Park.
Please do make the effort to attend I know you will have a great
morning, and you will be amazed at what you will see and learn
about the local wildlife in the area.

JET SKIS
The State Government has new regulations regarding the use
of jet skis on Queensland waterways.
Several residents have mentioned that some jet skiers, using the
boat ramp at the River Park, are not abiding to the new rules.
I have requested, from BCC, a notice board to be erected near
the boat ramp, setting out the new regulations. I would welcome
any comments on this subject.
SAFETY ISSUE
Some residents have expressed concern regarding people
walking on the roads, particularly at night. Can I suggest that
if you are unable to walk on the grass, you remember to walk
facing oncoming traffic, and wear light coloured clothing.
Reflective vests can be purchased for a few dollars from some
chain stores, and would be an excellent idea.
RSPCA
On a personal note, I intend donating pet food to the RSPCA.
The Christmas period is one of their busiest times, with many
animals being abandoned. If any residents would like to
contribute pet food, it can be left at 9 River Park Place up to
the 17th December.
I would like to wish you all a Happy, Peaceful and Safe
Christmas.
