Mandalay
Newsletter February 2007
Dear Mandalay
Residents,
Seven Oaks Development
Local residents may be unaware that there are four separate
development applications for the Cerebral Palsy League site know
as “Seven Oaks”.
The developments propose to build about 44 residential houses on
the current site.
The MPA has had looked at the development applications and would
like the BCC to enforce the 10 metre natural corridor along Fig
Tree Pocket Road as in the Fig Tree Pocket Local Plan.
Clean up Australia
Where: River Park
When: Sunday 4th March, 8:30am
Please come and help clean up the park and river banks. You will
be rewarded with a sausage sizzle on completion of the “clean
up!”
This is such a worthwhile exercise and something the whole
family can participate in! Sturdy shoes and gloves are
recommended as well as insect repellent, hat and sunscreen.
A.G.M.
The MPA AGM is to be held on the Thursday 15th March 2007 at
8pm, in the Fig Tree Pocket State School hall.
A nomination form can be found on the back of this newsletter.
Nominations can also be accepted from the floor on the night.
I urge as many as possible to attend this meeting. If the
association is to remain viable we need community support.
Councillor Jane Prentice and Ronan Lee, our local member, have
been invited to attend.
Join us after the AGM for some wine tasting, light snacks and
refreshments.
Habitat Group
Unfortunately the leader of the group has relocated to
Melbourne. To ensure the continuation of the Group a committee
of 4 has been established as a sub committee of the Association.
A junior birdwatching morning will be held in Biamba Yambi Park
on the 25th February at 8am for approximately an hour. Children
will need to be accompanied by an adult.
Remember hat, sunscreen and water. You will be amazed at the
variety and number of birds this area supports.
Play Equipment
Despite many approaches to the BCC over the years and as
many promises to upgrade the equipment, still nothing has been
achieved. The Association intends making an all out effort to
achieve some action on this front.
