MPA Newsletter July 2003

To the new residents I would like to welcome you to the best residential community in Brisbane. For those who do not familiar with the Mandalay Progress Association (MPA) began almost 30 years ago, when residents joined together during the 1974 flood.

Since that date, the MPA has existed to promote the lifestyle benefits and to improve the services in the Mandalay estate. Last year just under 200 households joined the MPA. One of our projects this year is to lobby for improvements to the play equipment in River Park and to update the local history booklet "In Search of the Remarkable Fig Tree".

In addition to the time and assistance provided freely by the committee members and residents, the need for funds arise for such events as the famous "Picnics in the Park" with fireworks and the "Clean-up Australia Day" in River Park.

Traditionally door knocking has been the usual method of collecting membership fees. Door knocking to collect membership fees is a very time consuming exercise.

This year we are attempting to make it easier for residents to pay their membership fees and meet the MPA committee members.

At the bottom of this newsletter is a membership form. It would be greatly appreciated if you could fill it out and return it with your cheque for ten dollars. You can post it or drop it into the locked letterbox at 28 Michelangelo St, Fig Tree Pocket. (If you are dropping it into the letterbox, a ten-dollar note is just as acceptable as a cheque). MPA receipts will be sent out ASAP.

Warren Fletcher

MPA President
