Picnic in the Park- Back
by Popular Demand
Put a big circle around Saturday 14th October in your diary,
because that’s the night “The Picnic in the Park” is to be held
at Biambi Yamba Park. A fantastic six piece rock band has been
organised with the help from the Brisbane City Council and Cr.
Jane Prentice. Also we have some other surprises that will
ensure a great night will be had by all the family.
Please BYO everything, and remember to take all your rubbish
away with you on departure. The event will kick off at Biambi
Yamba Park from 5:30pm onwards. A cool breeze often occurs after
sundown, so bring something warm to wear. MPA members are
allowed to invite guests to Picnic in the Park.Portable toilets
will be available for the comfort of all guests.
After talks with the management of Lone Pine, it has been
decided not to have fire works. The Association was made aware
of a very unfortunate incident following the fireworks two years
ago, when several kangaroos were injured and had to be
euthanased. I am sure residents would not want us to be
responsible for another such occurrence. As a gesture of
goodwill Lone Pine will have a surprise for us all on the night!
We ask residents not to park their cars near the bus stop at the
corner of Fig Tree Pocket Road and Botticelli Street. The BCC
buses have a lot of trouble negotiating the corner when cars are
parked on both sides of the road during Picnic in the Park. A
car was badly damaged by a BCC bus at a recent Picnic in the
Park.
Local Habitat Group
The newly formed Habitat Group had a very successful bird
watching morning on the 27th August. I will keep you informed of
future events.
River Walk
Several Residents have suggested that some seats be placed along
the river walk, behind Botticelli Street. If any residents have
comments about this suggestion, please
let me know and they can be submitted, with the proposal to Jane
Prentice’s Office.
Membership
Thank you to all those residents who placed their subscriptions
in the letter boxes, we had a great response. Those who missed
doing so can expect a knock on their door in the month of
September.
Membership is very important to the association and our goal is
to have at least 200 households as current members in the area.
We ask residents to support the MPA and help make build a better
community in the Mandalay area.
Winner
Congratulations to Lorna Williams who won the prize offered for
those who put their membership subscriptions in the letter box.
