Submission - The Draft Fig Tree Pocket local Plan

As an Association representing the majority of homeowners in the Mandalay area of Fig Tree Pocket, we would like to lodge once more our objection to the inclusion of a shopping complex in this area.

Council facilitated workshops and meetings with local residents showed that the vast majority of Fig Tree Pocket residents opposed the concept of a 'neighbourhood centre'.  Most residents indicated that they would not support businesses that operate from the proposed centre.  As a commercial enterprise, we believe this centre would not be viable even with local support. Without it, the proposed enterprise would be a disaster.

The grounds for this submission and the circumstances relied on in support of the grounds should be well documented in Council records from the workshops organised by the City Council.

Although these workshops were promoted as offering community involvement in the decision making process, the views of the community have been ignored in the drafting of this local plan.
